Did you ever stop and seriously ask yourself what are your true goals in life? How successful would you like your life to be? Where are you now?
I often ask myself this question and it takes me straight back to my childhood. Growing up as a child all I ever wanted was to be a vocalist. I remember my cousins and I always dressing up and pretending to be Diana Ross and the Supremes. Entertaining the family was a delight and I had to be the lead singer at all times, that’s how much I wanted to become a vocalist.
Even though I came from a well know musical family there was no guidance or encouragement. All I had was my imagination, faith and determination to be me and this set the wheels of destiny into motion.
Bringing my imagination to reality I knew would take a long time but I promised myself once I am breathing the essence of life I would not give up on my dream. It has been many years that I have been mastering my craft and I am still at it. My reasoning and passion for the love of creating artistically is who I am and what I do best. So whether my creation comes in the form of writing a song, blogging, home designing/decorating or sharing my knowledge I am in my zone of creativity and that keeps me driven and uplifted.
Rollo May says, “The opposite of courage in our society is not cowardness its conformity.” Our lives are an adventure that should be explored. Challenging our minds and bringing our goals into play can be a force to be reckoned with but it can be worthy in the end. Are you living your dream and are in control of your destiny or are you conforming yourself to the standards of what the social status quo demands of us?
Even though throughout my life I have worked in various professions my passion for creating and doing music has never left me. So when I meet a friend or a past colleague that I have not seen in a long time and their question to me is, “Are you still doing music?” it brings a devilish grin to my face. You may not know but my goal of creating and not competing artistically is my solution to keeping a sense of balance and focus in my life which gives me the feeling of success.
There are lots of people out there who have already achieved their goals because they knew what they wanted to be. Whether they are the taxi-driver, gas attendee, dentist, grocer or even a homemaker it is their sense of worth to society and they are happy and successful with it.
Success the progressive realization of a worthy idea.
Looking back you may discover that you have yet to complete your true goal and if you are already doing what you love best I applaud you. Yes! Fanga!
You are living “The Uninhibited Life”. Well Done!
