“I am trying my best to change and not to repeat my mistakes but I cannot seem to do it. It will take me some time to make the change.” Does that sound familiar? Why do we make these excuses? Over and over again we walk the path of safety. I am reaching out and asking you, “Do you love yourself? Do you believe you can create your own world of happiness? Do you have any relationship with yourself?” It is imperative to have an honest relationship with oneself.
Did it ever occur to you that if you work on having a relationship with yourself you will be able to gain the incredible knowledge of knowing who are you genuinely?
Being absorbed by today’s society and images we are caught up with the noise and outside forces. These forces make our sense of self judgment clouded as most of us are literally in the form of mental bondage. Being in such a state of mental oppression takes us out of control and it is one aspect of losing our focus. Our mind begins to rule us rather than we rule our minds. However, we do have the advantage to overpower the mind by enlightening ourselves to a position of being in control. Freeing our mind is like strengthening a muscle. We have to train it constantly.
Case in point, many years ago I used to drop everything that I held. Somehow I never seemed to grasp things good enough. One day I had to give change to a parking attendant (the year 1987) and what happened? As I was about to give him the loose change it fell. I was so furious with myself because I had a long line of cars behind me waiting to pay their tickets. From then on I decided not to be clumsy again. To this day I am in control of how I choose to handle myself. I can give you many examples, for instance, how I decided 20
years ago not to wear prescribed eyeglasses to drive at night. After wearing them for few months I thought I was leading myself into the hands of what should be rather than what I could do to make my eyes stronger. Today I read and drive without eyeglasses and still I am in training in order to control many other aspects of weakness in my life.
Instead of using excuses like ‘I cannot do it’, ‘this is who I am’, ‘I was born this way’, give yourself a fighting chance to develop the strength that is within you, a blessing(strength) with which God has blessed each and every one of us. STOP appealing to that noise in your head which says “I CAN’T”
Whatever changes you need to make in your life the decision stands with you. “You have to keep going with all the positives until all the negatives goes out”……… Jimmy Hendricks.
