Growing up in a spiritual home going to church was imperative. But in addition to going to church we also went to Sunday school (Sunday school is an extension of after church where we, the children, were schooled and told bible stories; stories of Noah and the Ark, John the Baptist, the Three Wise Men and their journey to Bethlehem and Gabriel the Archangel among others). The word angel was always fascinating to me. You know the pictures with their big, beautiful, white wings and angelic faces. I grew up believing they (angels) belonged to the sky and beyond. It has been a debilitating subject for me ever since.
There is some sort of descriptive distinction of what an angel is via the dictionary. For me it is still vague, and it never ceased to baffle me. As I grew older I began to forever question myself about exactly what is an Angel. Now as an adult I have come to my own interpretation of what is an angel.
Angels are around us every day. They are the people whose faces we stare right into. They are the people who stretch their hands to assist when we are down and out. They are the ones who without a doubt or thought, not knowing who we are, extend themselves to the maximum. They are the ones with whom you least expect to share the most discrete parts of your life but because of their understanding, warmth and compassion you do. They are right here on earth in the flesh doing wonders.
My dear friend Marika laughed heartily when I told her this, little does she know that she’s a representation of what I am talking about. I believe this is God’s design and this is where we build credit within our lives, by taking charge and taking care of others, as simple as that. It is where true love for humanity shows itself. There is already an abundance of live angels out there doing the right thing, making life easier and happier for others, I applaud you all. They are everywhere. Look around you and you may soon discover that your angel has been staring at you all along.
As much as there are vile menaces in our society today there are lots of beauties and beautiful God-given people on this earth. Without them there will be no balance in today’s world of greed and hatred. Even though I wrote about my anger and how I felt about the killing of the young man on last week’s blog I know better and it was an isolated situation. Nevertheless I am happy that I reached out and touched some of my readers, your responses were great. Thank you!
