Eye to I

Forcing our ideas/beliefs unto others is something we all love to do however, sometimes it can be overpowering and can take its toll. Many times I have been accused of
being opinionated, controlling even bitchy, the modern word of today. As I have never really given it a thought or saw myself in such light I decided to examine myself hoping for a better understanding and the courage to move into the direction of listening more and mentally summarizing things before I jump to conclusions. To simplify it, I was on a quest to learn how to just have a little more tact.

One of my Fanga! quotations says, “You may not change a man’s perception on certain ideas but you can give him food for thought….5 Mar 2011.”

What I discovered is that by truly listening to someone else without any preconceived perception gives me full advantage and understanding plus ample insight into the other
person’s point of view. I have learnt some of us may not be intellects but we all are exceptional and we each bring forth our unique experiences and that makes the difference.

By listening attentively I can actually feel the other person’s needs and pain unfolding within and by doing this it gives me enough room to digest the issues which I could then address.  As we are all too aware the human way of thinking often is, “It is what it is.”

I have learnt that trying to solve an issue for someone never works. However, exploring the source of the information without being condescending gives me a bigger piece of the picture so when I begin to express myself I could offer my thoughts and knowledge with compassion.

I believe that we can adhere to each other and feed off each other’s energies. Listening with an open mind and sharing or discussing our issues/ideas will bring us to reveal unforeseen
areas within ourselves and among our peers. This will help us recognize that we all have a deeper understanding of ourselves, a part that is untouched, a part that’s waiting to magnify itself into becoming a huge advantage within our lives.

I leave you with another Fanga! quotation, “I may not do what everyone says but I do listen to everyone and that makes my decision easier….6 Mar 2011.
